Try Autozone - they have rebuilt units they can order, cheap.

Get the Z3 rack - the fastest rack made to fit the E36. That's what we have in our car...

I just got a power steering pump from Oreilly for $130 for my new e39 540.  the Dealer was over $700 and the best online price I could find was $300.  The Oreilly part even has a lifetime warranty

Thanks for the tips. I checked Autozone's website, but the cheapest Z3 rack was over $500. Is there a certain year/engine I should search for? The regular e36 325i rack is only $265.

I though the E36 rack in my E30 was plenty quick relative to the OE unit. I doubt you'll notice a difference between E36 and the Z3 setups as they are both light years faster than the E30.

Zionsville autosport sells used E36 racks as a conversion kit... they are not a direct bolt on to an E30
without some sort of spacers and you will need to modify the steering linkage.. .... I have the Z3 rack .... love it..

lock to lock turns
- E30 4.0
- E30 M3 3.5
- E36 3.25
- E36 M3 3.0
- Z3 2.7
