WOW!!! Congratulations to Olafur Eliasson for completely removing the car from the Art Car. Now that's bold! Not only does it succeed in "challanging the way we think of a car" (who needs it to be mobil?) but it's also based on a clever pun. What more could anyone want? As a fan Art Cars, I may be in love.

Serious students of art, however, will probably be a bit disturbed to see more than just a passing similarity to Sven Doltorff's "Art Dingies" of the '90's. Or could this be possibly a cyncal homage to 1987 Chezec C'leboue's 1987 Art Papaya collection? And who can forget Sonnie Leictenbaum's stunning "Art Armadillos" from the sixties?

Any word on when MiniChamps will have a 1/18 model available?

That's LOL funny assuming you are being sarcastic.  Because despite being based on a BMW car chassis it has nothing to do with either BMW's or cars IMHO.
