There was a company in Richardson, Midwest Electric, that was right behind Classic BMW at 508 Bishop Drive
that did work on alternators and starters.... The owner Fritz was eccentric but did great work. I went by the
shop this week and that company has closed.

I found another company in the Lewisville area that does the same sort of work.

120 E. Main Street Lewisville, TX 75057 972-436-8111

If you have an alternator or starter that you want to have checked, repaired, or rebuilt, then give them a call
or stop in. They also have two full service bays and lifts for actually diagnosing electrical issues on a vehicle
and they also work on boats, ATVs, winches, and motorcycles. They have been open for 37 years.

I went in to Midwest when Fritz was taking the place down. He said he wasn't getting paid by many customers and everyone wanted Chinese made junk now anyway, so he closed it up.

Have you had any work done by the company in Lewisville? I was just curious as to their quality.

I did not have any work done.. they bench tested my alternator and it was fine.. there were several alternators on the counter that were awaiting pickup, and they all looked  to be in good condition and  the price tags for the items on the counter ranged from $55-$75-$95-$105-$130 or so for the ones that happened to be there on the counter ...    as long as they have been in business... I am sure they haven't done it it turning out bad work...  actually.. if you want a good reference..  maybe call Krause's Automotive in lewisville..   Robert Krause posts on here occasionally...  see who they use...

Thanks, That's good to know. I've priced a new alternator for my 540 and it just shy of $500.

I have heard that Rolls Royce alternators are actually cooled by Dom Perignon.
