.. I figured earlier in the year would be better weatherwise, especially eating outside... Odd that the
attendance was better in the hotter months in the past.... *shrug*
Love the term, " slalom of eternity " Joseph.... LOL ... I think a little more space between each of the slalom
gates but with the same pattern would have been ideal..... of course tighter gates do favor the more
nimble/low hp cars... open it up too much and the boost buggies and vettes would make it a walk. I (like Scott)
personally very much favor changes of pace like that in a slalom... can't make it easy for ya'll
In Greg's car, I short shifted to fourth on the first straight, and was also in the fourth with no short shift
on the second straight.... Indeed, the bump on the first straight felt like a launch! The bump on the
second straight I took pretty much flat out, likely knocking down a cone but I felt the single second was
worth it vs slowing down and a lower speed at the end of the straight...
I definitely love coming back down onto the end at Grayson... a little off camber, and then a blast
in second gear to the end.... I kept only getting third gear though because of my unfamiliarity with
the close ratio dogleg box in Greg's car.. I think I had two mis-shifts on my best run.. (sigh).. there
was more time out there for me, as Brian showed... Congrats to Brian B for being top BMW driver !
Luke... all results including YTD were sent to the web master on Sunday...
The committee is in LOVE with our new quite... (ECO quiet) Honda Generator....
BHanchey.. (or was it Fair?) ... pickup on aisle 6!
Glad to see so many positive comments... with the pavement letting go.. wonder if we should go there in 2009 though..

Darn it, I had to miss Sherman again this year! Family graduations don't come around often, though, so we were up in NW Arkansas last weekend. Three graduations in Arkansas in three straight weekends (one being my daughter graduating from UArk :w00t ; 2400 miles of quality family time. Sounds like y'all had a great time. Hopefully Michael and I will see you in June! Have a good one, Mike

Just reiterating what others said here -
Very fun course - I even enjoyed the slalom of eternity. It was kinda nice to practice on a long series (even if they weren't equally spaced).
But............. the pavement is getting in pretty bad shape. On one run I heard such a clunk from the rear of my car that I thought something important had broken. Even started to slow down (yeah, that's it.......... that's what I'll blame that run's time on!). I think now that it must have been a piece of asphalt.

Not knowing your setup I can't give any specific hints, but I can get with you at TMS if you want. Have a good one, Mike

Mike,
I've been through many setups. I've used 3 different cameras on this mount and this is the only one that has had this problem. I'm not the only person that's tried the Aiptek A-HD and others have had problems that are similar. Besides this particular mount I've used 2 others and have a pretty good range of experience with this stuff.
All the other videos on my Vimeo.com page (except the Miata video) are using the same chasecam suction cup mount.

Frank (5/27/2008) So mounting rigid to the roll bar is what is required? Like clamping it?I made up a rigid mount for my camcorder, but had video that looked much like this one. The mount is rigid, but the footprint of the typical camcorder mount is too small to stabilize the unit laterally. The answer I've seen work is to come up with a strap that runs over the top of the camcorder (this is a typical "brick" type digital Hi-8 format unit, not like the smaller ones many folks use today) to keep it from rattling back and forth. Some I've seen are nylon straps, others are small "bungee" cords, etc. I ended up getting a relatively cheap "bullet" camera that I run into my camcorder. Takes decent video, but not as good image-wise as the camera. OTOH, you can put the thing just about anywhere. HTH, and have a good one, Mike
