| We have a couple of insurance industry gurus here. Any thoughts on policies that will cover losses at non-competitive track events such as DE's? I currently have St. Farm and I haven't read my policy but I expect it to be unfriendly toward tracks days.

| Unfortunately, I don't know of any specific policies or companies which are track friendly. Best thing to do is read the exclusions in your policy. There are exclusions for each section of the policy (eg. liability; damage to your car, etc). The exclusions are found at the end of each section. Most insurers are adding activities on the track to the exclusion list, (whether the activities are timed or not). It's best to recheck your policy at renewal time as a new contract form can be introduced at that time. Fortunately our local tracks are not car eaters. --Ron

| Thanks Ron. I still need to read my policy. Has anyone read their policy and what did you find?

The SF Texas personal auto policy has no such exclusions at this time, and in my opinion is unlikely to change anytime soon.
It's always sage advice to not heavily track that which you cannot simply write off, but that said, if you need to make a claim, that's what your policy is for and that is why you pay for insurance. As Ron mentioned, most of the tracks in this area are quite forgiving, which is quite nice.

FYI... this company sells specific DE/Track insurance...

I do not know if they sell coverage for cars in Texas due to the very restrictive Texas Department of Insurance.

| Let's say you have a teenage boy. Let's say he loves skateboarding. Let's say he tries to do some stupid trick and breaks a bunch of bones, has to have surgery, and is in the hospital for awhile. Your medical insurance will cover that instead of saying "we don't cover stupidity"....not too dissimilar from going to the track ya think? /rant

ha! No doubt!
I pay for people's stupidity on a daily basis......
"I drove it into high water... I thought I could make it..... "
"I hit a deer and thought I could make it home and.... what's that? you say it overheated? "
" I bought a Dodge Ram diesel truck..... " oh wait... we've stopped paying for those....
