I kinda like the pin turns actually... to be honest though, they are no different than a gated turn.... they are really just missing the outside cone. Many people do complain that the AWD boost buggies and big motor cars have an advantage out of slow corners that lead onto straights, but in small lot like TMS/Lagrave... there's not a whole lotta straight... For a BMW club there seemes like a pattern on having autocross courses that totally suit the AWD Turbo buggies - I always wondered if someone wanted these cars to get FTD. At least Jim sold his EVO! M3 Adjuster (4/30/2008) I will say that messrs Hanchey/Fair may have over promised and under delivered with respect to a longer cable Yea, sorry I meant to follow up on that. After talking to Vitek about the pinouts he said the longer cables with the "old" system the club has would be "problematic". Signal noise. Of course he'd love to sell the club a newer system and $$$ wireless timing lights, so I dunno if he was in sales mode or tech support mode....

| LOL about the timing lights Luke.... We have some committee members that simply need-to-place-them-farther-apart. I believe the range is like 30-50 feet, between the two lights, but somehow they always get placeed right next to the finish cones about 15 feet apart. This past event I noticed that they were too close in the middle of the first run group and moved them apart just in time! Thanks for the followup Terry/Brian... I think the longest cord we have is 200 feet.. I believe we have a 50, a 100, and a 200..... and makes sense to me that a signal might get weak after travelling 200 feet. Resistance stinks! Regarding course designs.... we've been accused of designing courses that favor Vettes, boost buggies (WRX/Evo) , and apparently now Elises can be added to the list.. ha! We just need some people (myself included) to ante up to a 135i/335i with some software... and then people will say we favor BMWs again... It definitely relfects badly upon BMW that the GREAT majority of cars in BMW CCA club racing/autocross are 10-15 years old.. Truth be told... i don't think any of us have a particular car in mind when setting up a course..... and of course we DO accept course designs from the pundits ...
I got a chance to drive the X6, and the new M3 (hubba hubba! ) on the track in my pace car duties last week..... and I also drove one of my DE students 335 coupes.... Wow... what a platform .... A little weight reduction and some tires and the E90/E92 are instant contenders! PS.. thanks Classic BMW! Anyone who wants to squawk about the WEIGHT of the E90/E92 M3 needs to step on their own scales and look down (ha!) before casting the first stone.. Better yet... go and DRIVE the dang car instead of criticizing it's specs from the comfort of your desk chair. The E90 M3 sedan did NOT feel heavy to me at all on the track in my drive.... The new M3 has WAY more than enough added horsepower to offset it's weight gain.... I've heard pro- racers say the same. It definitely posseses a certain svelteness that belies what you see in the spec sheets under curb weight. The E46 M3 (sorry E46 owners) handles like a pig... the E90 (with easily the best suspension design yet on a 3 series) does not. C'mon Luke... slap some serious brake pads and R tires on the 335!
