I have two nails in my front, passenger side tire and one nail in my front, driver's side tire. I have take the car to both Firestone and Discount Tire and neither will repair them. Discount says it has a policy against repairing more than one hole in a single tire. Firestone says my driver's side nail is too close to the edge to the edge of the tire wall (it's 2.5 inches from it) and that it would make their patch curve and fall off. Both tire shops, however, had a solution: buy two new tires.

Can anyone receommend another tire shop in Dallas? Possibly an independent?

Any of the local corner, gas stations / turned tire stores, will have no problem repairing all holes.

Find one that has a dynamic balance machine (spin balancer) and you are good.

what Frank said... stop by the little independent shops ..

Places like Firestone and NTB will charge  you $25 to fix a flat,  IF they don't refuse to do it based on it being " near the side wall" etc.

Tow other a-x committee members and I frequent a place called  7 Day Tire in lewisville.. it is just off of Main St and just West of Lewisville High School...    Greg  makes the drive from Richardson so it must be worth it!

flat tire repair  (plug and patch) is $7 ... the chapter trailer had a low tire... I though it had a nail and they checked if for $3..     they found no leaks (neither did I) and remounted it...

for regular mount and balance..  I pay $40 for 4 -15s and about $48 for  17s..   there is no fancy Hunter road force balance machine, but I have not had an issue with them mounting tires for my  beater Honda, wife's  2005 scooby , my M3 track car, or the club van and trailer...

Great. Thanks for the suggestions. I think I will see what this little corner tire shop can do over here by me.

I'm not saying they'll repair your tires, but I wasn't charged anything to repair a flat at NTB on Arapaho in Richardson a couple of weeks ago.

All Discount Tire fix flats for free as well.

In the original post it was noted that Discount would not fix them and why. Discount has gotten very picky on the tires they will fix. Two holes in close proximity, no. Any hole on the edge of the tread, no. Any lineal cut, no matter how small or short, no. Sidewall holes, don't even ask. Wear on any of the wear bars, no.

Unless the hole is a single round puncture near the middle of the tread and the tire has plenty of miles remaining the answer is no.

Discount Tire? No, No, and No.

In the past, Discount has pissed me off on flat repairs too.

Discount lost my business for good this morning because they wanted $88 to mount and balance 4 tires.  Carry-in off the car.

I used to get it done at Discount for $40-50 as a regular customer discount.  I paid $70 at another shop near my house but I can probably get them to come down a bit next time since I bring them in off the car.  Saves them jacking and lugging.

Ran into the same problem with Discount Tire at George Bush and Coit. They wanted $100. to swap my carry in tires to my current rims. Got it done for $40 elsewhere. I don't get it they ask for your phone number so I know they see my account history (which is a lot of purchases) and then try to stick it to you, short sighted thinking for them.
