March 13, Dallas Brunch Tour (March 27 Fort Worth info below)
This Saturday, March 13, the Lone Star Chapter BMW CCA will be taking a brunch drive back up to Whitewright, Texas, for some of CJ Cafe's special cooking!  We had a number of comments from last fall's 1/2 day drive about how good the roads and the route was, so we're planning a re-play so we can all enjoy them again!

Leave from:    Exxon Station - SE corner of Hwy 5 and Hwy 380

Time:    9am

Arrive CJ's    approx 10:30 am

Return to McKinney - approx 1:30 for some adult beverages and BBQ

See additional important details at end of this post.

March 27, Forth Worth Brunch Tour

On Saturday, March 27th, we'd like to meet in Cleburne at 9 am (in front of the favorite Applebee's restaurant on Hwy 67) for a brunch tour to Mary's on the Brazos in lovely Tin Top, Texas!

Christian Winter and Marc Leediker drove this route last fall and they agreed it was a tour worth repeating!

New on this route:  We will wind up in Strawn, Texas, at Mary's Cafe to do a comparison survey as to which Mary serves food worth stopping for!  From Strawn, we will meander back to the metroplex, avoiding Hwy 199 like the proverbial plague!

We hope everyone on the west side (the best side?) of the Metroplex can join us for a fun 1/2 day tour!

IMPORTANT DETAILS FOR BOTH TOURS!

For those who have contemplated doing the 2-3 day tours with us but didn't know how well your significant other would enjoy the event, these 1/2 day tours are an excellent way to see how things work on our tours!

    - if you have a CB radio, please bring it.   This adds continuity to the group and you will have a chance to hear what's coming down the road at you (speed traps, loose cattle, bodacious women on motorcycles, etc).  If you don't 'have your ears on', there's no telling what you'll miss!   Most importantly, it will allow you to easily communicate with the rest of us if there is a problem, a need for a 'nature break' or a question about where we're heading next!
    - Since we drive at a 'spirited pace', please check your car for correct tire pressure, up to date inspection sticker, and basic fluids.   We want you to enjoy the scenery and the company without worrying about maintenance issues!

So, if you plan on joining either tour, please send an email to Marc Leediker (marc3509@sbcglobal.net) so that he can have an accurate headcount.  Please indicate in the email if you have attended any car control clinics or Driving School events. Marc will provide maps of the route for everyone on the tour.

We went on the Whitewright tour last Fall. It's a good route as Mark has stated.

We've been on a couple of tours on the roads south and west of Fort Worth with Mark. There are several good ones down there.

We plan to go on both drives.

Sounds like a blast, but I've got my mother in town this weekend for my wife's baby shower, so I can't make it. Argh!

LOL.... I agree... I saw TWO reasons to go... " baby shower" and "mother in law"...
Didn't you get called in to " work" Saturday morning or something ?

Heh, it was my mother, not mother-in-law. Key difference. Her cancer just came back, so ditching her probably wouldn't be a good son thing to do. There was Joe T. Garcia's involved on Saturday night, so it's all good. Besides, my parents paid for the $400 crib on Saturday. The baby shower was on Sunday and I was at home playing video games the whole time. I did my part by unloading all of the loot.
