Does anyone know of a shop that does a good job at reasonable prices? Preferably close to Lewisville, but I'm willing to drive a bit. Thanks in advance for any info.

BTW nice autox Saturday, albeit hot. Next time we go to TMS I'm going to hose down in the showers afterward.

The covers on my car are magnesium, or so I heard. If you look closely the mag and/or aluminum covers are very pitted so I doubt that they would buff up nicely.

Years ago, like 15 yrs ago, I searched for a shop to buff some other items and found that the only places that have the right equipment to do a good job are the metal plating shops, especially the ones that do chrome plating.

They have hvy duty machines that are bolted to the floor and operators that know what they are doing. I found a good one on Maple just West of the toll road by 1 or 2 street blocks. That's all I recall.

Just remove your valve cover and take it to a powder coating shop. They will strip, sand and put whatever color you want on it. my 540 needs this and this is what most other folks do.

Thanks for the replies, I may do the powdercoating thing. Yes, hot pink.

A few years ago I had my Miata's intake and valve cover polished when I lived in Los Angeles. It was tough to find a shop that would do it, but a local chrome plating shop did a bang up job on both for a total of $300 IIRC.
