Does anyone have this scan tool that I could use on my car? It apparently pulls more codes than my Peake and at this point I need to know as much as possible about the issues that are stored in my DME.

I don't know what code the Peake does or doesn't pull but AFAIK all generic OBD readers pull the same codes. Autoparts stores usually have an OBD reader and will pull the codes for you.

| I had transmission errors that would not come up on the clubs tool. I went to Autozone and they pull all the codes for free.

Thats cool. I've heard some tranny and ABS errors will not come up on a generic OBD scanner.

| There are several types of generic scanners out there and most will only pull codes from DME. Some will pull from EGS(transmission) and a few will pull from seperate control units minor and major but those are the ones that cost more. BMW's with OBD2 and 20pin diagnostic ports....if pulling codes via the OBD2 port you can only access DME and EGS from the OBD2. All other control units have to be read from the 20 pin and the OBD2 cover has to be in place. There are codes set in the EGS, ABS and other systems that can turn on the CE light and not show up in a scan via a generic scanner. Don't know if any of this helps but all useful if you are not aware.

| Thanks Trent; you are a wealth of great information. I also agree with you because I have looked up the error code I am getting on my peake and that single code maps into 8 separate, more detailed PC codes. I was thinking that the more detailed codes would help me diagnosis my problem. I also do not think that the autozone readers are any more detailed than my Peake (but that is a guess). With my car missing so much I am concerned I will ruin my CATs. I am still on a bear hunt for this problem. I am focused at the crank sensor but the one I have is out of stock at Classic.
