| FYI...I contacted MSR last week. They do not have any helmets available for rent that are Snell 2000+ certified. They did state that they are going to be getting new helmets, but that won't help anyone for this weekend. So, you will need to provide your own helmet for now. If you haven't ordered online by now and are still looking for a helmet, I found a couple of helmets at Cycle Gear in Bedford that would satisfy our requirements. The lowest cost options I found were KBC helmets: one was an open face (TK-110) for $60 and the other was a full face (Force RR) for $160. Strangely, the TK-110 was sketchy on the Snell certification. One I looked at was Snell certified, while the other was only DOT so that one may be hit or miss.

Thanks for the responses, guys.
Still some questions:
Does it matter whether a helmet is open-face or full face? (the salesman was saying get full face, since some tracks require more than the DE club might otherwise. He cited SCCA?)
One helmet I had on is M-2005 certified, but only says Snell and DOT certified on a sticker on the back. The catalog clearly states it is M-2005 certified. (HJC AC-3). Would it be acceptable without the sticker, but if I, say, made a copy of the catalog page?
Anybody got a line on a decent torque wrench for wheels and other DIY that doesn't cost an arm and leg?

| You dont need a DOT cert just SNEL. Many clubs prefer open face because of airbags and no rollcage. In racing, you need full face because of the rollbar and no airbags. Get the one you like. as far as torqure wrenches go, I think Craftsman has one for about $80. YOu can also try Northern tool or Harbor freight as you probably wont be using it every day the cheaper ones will usually work ok. If you dont have one, you can always find one at the track that you can use.

HF has their 1/2" torque on sale for $10 right now, IIRC. They run that sale pretty often.

This will be my first DE (yeah, finally!!). I am running the stock Bridgestone Potenza RFT 18" on my '06 330i w/sport package. I usually keep my pressure at 32/36 (per manual), but I'm not sure if I should change that for this event. I know tire pressure makes a difference in handling at autocrosses, but just not so sure what to do for a DE. Any suggestions for tire pressure for this event? If it helps, my tires have a range of 32-38/36-45.

| I would bump the fronts up to 35 or so. Its really not that big of a deal for your first DE. and Dont worry about it being your first DE, you wont be able to wipe the smile off your face all day. And maybe if your real lucky, I will be your instructor.

I had a great time this past weekend. Thanks to my instructor who was a great help to me. I learned alot more than I thought I would. Also, thanks to everyone who set the event up!
