This past summer I put Koni sports on my car with Vogtland springs.  The shocks are set pretty soft - 1/4 turn from full soft on front and 1 turn from soft on the back.  That said, the ride is still harsher than I was looking for so I'm thinking about changing once again.

Now I'm looking at either the HR Sports or the Eibach Pros.  I've seen pros and cons about both online and wanted to see if anyone here had info they could share.

Thanks,

Bob

I have had the H&R sports and also the H&R sports with rear adjustables (from Turner Motorsport). I have the latter right now and the perches have broken and need to be replaced. I did not like how high the regular sports sat in the rear.  I have single adjustable Konis and UUC sway bars. I have them 1/4 turn from full soft on a daily basis and the ride is prety comfortable. All of this is subjective though...

I've had Eibachs on my E39 540 Sport and was not happy with them. They felt softer (lower spring rate) than the factory sport springs and more like factory non-sport springs. At the time I was looking for something a bit stiffer (higher spring rate) than the factory sport spring.

From the 2 big forums (Bimmer fest & forum) I've gathered that the H&R Sports are a bit stiffer than the Eibachs. If that's true and if that holds for your car model too, then you would want to stay away from them and consider the Eibachs. Unfortunately the spring mfgrs keep the replacement spring specifications a secret as if revealing them would change the course of history.

I've measured my front factory sport spring rate and a front Dinan spring rate at ride height in a hydraulic hand press. They are progressive rate springs so I chose to use the ride ht rate as a simple means to compare them.

My point is that measuring them yourself is about the only way you can get a handle on the spring rate. That or go to coilovers where the spring rate is known.

I also have the H&R sport springs. Love them too...... I think I may have a loose mount or something.. can hear something in the right rear.

Thanks!

I had H&R sports on my M3 for a while and really liked them (on Bilsteins).  At the time they were one of the more aggressive spring rates for off the shelf aftermarket springs.  I'd go with Eibach if you are looking for a more comfortable ride.

How did you manage to get the spring rates? The mfgs usually protect them like a national treasure.
