In preparation for next auto-x season, Pops would like to upgrade to some 15x7's with sticky 225/50R15's (either BFG KD's which are available already, or Falken RT-615's IF they release this size in November '06 like they are supposed to)... We've found the tires, and I believe we've found the wheels, too.

Wheels would likely be 15x7 Rota Slipstreams in 4x100 with 57.1mm centerbore (e30's centerbore), with the only issue being offset... the Rota's are available in +40 or +35, so the question is about the spacer size to fit the 225's. Would it be better to go with +35 and an 8mm spacer, or the +40 and a 15mm spacer? That would make the effective offset either +27 (+35 with an 8mm spacer) or +25 (OEM spec for 15's, right? with a +40 wheel and 15mm spacer). Or, do we need more offset to fit 225's?

We could use OEM wheels, BUT, the Rota Slipstreams are super freakin' light and dirt cheap. The problem is that Rota's offsets for that wheel are made for FWD cars - no problem when using spacers, though. Several people on Bimmerforums are running 17" Rotas with spacers.

Just wondering if any local e30 guys could help us determine what offset and spacer to use to fit some meaty 225's under his ride! I know I've seen at least one person running 225's on 15's at the autocross, but I believe those were on OEM wheels...

I'd rather be autocrossing...

it very well may be apples an oranges, but E30 M3 fitment is 15 x 7 ET 30 and most people run 225/50/15
You need offset control arm bushings.
Of the two options presented I would go with the ET 35s and a 5 or 8mm spacer.

Does Ron Bibb have 15s?

So, it sounds like we need less offset then? I didn't see anything on the web with a +30 ET. Might go with the +35 offset and test it with some 5mm spacers first then... Can always get bigger ones, if required...

He's got M3 offset lower CA bushings and offset upper strut bushings, too... Not too worried about them tucking up in there. I was just unsure about the offset...

Not sure about Rob, but I think Jurgen is running 225's...

Thanks!

Nevermind... seems like the good folks at Bimmerworld have Team Dynamics Pro Race 1's with the proper centerbore and offset right outta the box.

I'd rather be autocrossing...

The non-M3 E30 basketweaves in 15x7 4x100 are 24et.

I'd go with the +35ET wheels.

You can always add spacers... but you can't take away what isn't there.

225's should be easy peasy.

At one point on my e30 I had 245 front and 255 back. Just rolled lips. All about finding the perfect offset.

I have 15"x6.5" BBS Wheels ET33 with 225/55-15 tires.  Are you needing a guinea pig?

FYI,

Tirerack has the Kazera KZ-M in a 15x7, 25mm offset, 13.5 lbs for a little bit cheaper than the Team Dynamics wheels. The Kazera's are 119 each and in-stock in grey or white.
